Welcome to Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Green Business Resource Center which brings together member businesses committed to workplace excellence and environmental stewardship. Click here to read the Chamber's press release launching this Resource Center.

Business of all sizes are integrating high environmental standards into strategic plans and day to day operations.  For example, Chamber members are taking the lead in sustainable business by:

  • Building and operating in Montgomery County the first LEED certified Conference (Marriott International)
  • Modernizing their 30-year-old headquarters facility in Bethesda to incorporate the latest green building techniques, practices and materials to obtain LEED certification. (Lockheed Martin)
  • Installing green roofs on company’s headquarters building and using sustainable building materials, such as bamboo flooring, in the facility’s interior design. (Discovery Communications)
  • Implementing a “blueprint for the future” that focuses heavily on environmental protection activities in order to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. (Pepco)
  • Installing solar-efficient blinds at the company’s central facility.These are kept drawn during the daytime to save on energy consumption.(Gazette Newspapers)
  • Encouraging students and faculty to use transit by providing free Ride-On flash passes. (Montgomery College)
  • Devloping wind energy and other clean energy sources through one of its subsidiaries. (Washington Gas)
  • Designing sustainable transit-oriented communities.  Active in developing five areas along the I-270 Corridor that will be served by the Corridor Cities Transitway. (Rodgers Consulting)
  • Recycling at a company-wide rate of more than 80 percent. (Fitzgerald Auto Malls)
