Fort Detrick and National Cancer Institute Expansion Means Opportunities For Business
Presented by MCCC Education and Workforce Preparation Committee MCCC Economic Development Committee MCCC GovConNet
"Make the procurement process "win-win-win" for your company, your partners and the Government", SAIC-Frederick Director of Contracts & Acquisitions John Trifone told more than 100 business leaders at "Expansion at Fort Detrick and National Cancer Institute Means Opportunities for Business", hosted by The Universities at Shady Grove on December 11.
SAIC-Frederick supports and manages the National Cancer Institute Frederick Campus, annually acquiring approximately $200 million of goods and services.
Marketing to Fort Detrick and the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command requires innovative products and services that are relevant to the military and support national defense, said Archie Cardwell, the Command's Deputy Associate Director of the Office of Small Business Programs.
Cardwell added that the " 'mays' are becoming 'shalls' " as Federal procurement regulations change. He encouraged contractors to stay on top of the changing regulatory requirements.
The Frederick area is home to Fort Detrick and the National Cancer Institute and a number of other Federal and commercial research facilities, said Richard Griffin, Director of the City of Frederick Department of Economic Development and Vice President of the Fort Detrick Alliance.
