Economic Development Committee

Vice Chair: Bill Robertson, President & CEO, Adventist HealthCare, Inc.
Vice Chair: Mike Norcio, Chairman and CEO, MAR, Inc.


Develops and advocates Chamber policies on economic development issues, and initiates Chamber programs aimed at supporting County and State economic development initiatives.   Meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 8:00 – 9:00 am.

Legislative Affairs Committee

Vice-Chair: Tom McElroy, Corporate Controller, Hughes Network Systems 

Provides guidance to the Chamber Board, members, staff, and our professional lobbying team on the many public policy issues of importance to our members. The Montgomery County Chamber is extremely active each year as the leading advocate for Montgomery County business. From Rockville to Annapolis, committee members actively support Chamber priorities on those public policy issues that impact your business and the broader community. The Committee meets formally and informally with elected and appointed officials, as well as other business and non-business organizations, to advance a pro-business and pro-quality-of-life agenda at the state and local levels. Meets on the 3rd Friday of each month from 8:00 – 9:30 am except during January – April, when the committee meets every other Monday.

Small Business Committee

Vice-Chair: Joseph Chirico, GVP Corporate Banking Chevy Chase Bank a Division of Capital One, N.A.
Co-Chair: Charles H. Atwell, President, Innovative Business Interiors, Inc.


Empowers and fosters business opportunities in our community, promotes and provides services that address financial, educational and other concerns to the small & minority business community, with a focus on issues and programs that benefit employers with 100 or fewer employees. Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 8:00 – 9:00 am.  

Infrastructure and Land Use Committee

Vice-Chair: Gus Bauman, Esq., Beveridge & Diamond, P.C.

Promotes balanced transportation infrastructure including roads, mass transit and commuter rail. Advocates for improved east-west linkage between Montgomery County and other major areas of the state. Addresses local, state, and regional transportation issues and related funding needs. Champions the interests of the business community on land use, growth initiatives, economic development and related issues. Closely follows matters relating to the county’s Planning Board and Board of Appeals. Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 8:30 – 10:00 am.

GovConNet Committee

Encourages and promotes the awareness and opportunities for the advancement of doing business with Federal, State and local government agencies. Provides best business practices and regulatory updates for prospective, new and experienced government contractors. Meets the 1st Thursday of every month from 8:00 – 9:00 am.
