MCCC'S 51st ANNUAL DINNER

JUNE 9, 2010

On June 9, 2010, the newly installed MCCC 2010-2011 Board of Directors and other business leaders, elected officials and additional special guests connected at the Chamber’s 51st Annual Dinner to recognize that THE FUTURE IS HERE.

For the first time in its history, MCCC recognized two government agencies with prestigious awards. The Chairman’s Award was presented to three outstanding leaders from the Chamber’s Executive Committee: Pam Mazza of PilieroMazza PLLC, Doug Brown of PNC Bank and Gus Bauman of Beveridge & Diamond, P.C.

The MCCC Partner of the Year Award was presented to the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and accepted by Robert G. Hoyt, Director. MCCC recognized DEP for its partnership on the Montgomery County Green Business Certification Program, which boasts 20 green-certified businesses since its launch in late 2009. The partners, which include Montgomery College, also launched a "Get on the Bus" ad campaign before the Annual Dinner.

MCCC welcomed incoming Board Chairman Sterling Crockett, Chairman & CEO of Sterling Construction and Senior Financial Officer of R4 Incorporated. He received a standing ovation after his inaugural address which spoke of the importance of contributing to "the greater common good."

"In the general scheme of things in this world…we members of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, are the fortunate few. We are fortunate to reside in this country, in this County, at this particular moment. We live in a free capitalist society and we are permitted to say what we want and to live out our dreams of success. I will be successful in [my role of Chairman] if I can continue and grow the plan of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, along with all of you, to serve the business community and to contribute to the greater common good."

— 2010-2011 MCCC Chairman, Sterling Crockett
