Ilaya serves as Vice President, Government Relations and Communications, overseeing MCCC government affairs at the Federal, State and local levels as well as its communications. As Vice President, she will be an integral part of the leadership team focused on ensuring success of all members.
Ms. Hopkins most recently held the position of Executive Director of Maryland Leadership Workshops where she ran the statewide non-profit and their core summer programs for three years. She has a long-standing career of volunteer service in Montgomery County and the Bethesda area serving on the Western Montgomery Citizens Advisory Board, the County Executive’s BRAC Implementation Committee and numerous civic, education and community organizations. Prior to her community work, Ilaya was an organizational development consultant for high tech clients in Silicon Valley, managed external affairs at the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University and was a Presidential Management Intern in the Federal Government. She has a Masters Degree in Western European Studies and Economics from The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Bachelors Degree in International Relations (Economic/Commercial Option) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She lives in Bethesda with her husband and two sons.
